Job description

Want to be a veterinary rockstar? Well then come join our band! Creature Comforts Animal Hospital is an AAHA-accredited, veterinarian-owned, modern facility offering the best compensation and working environment in the Hudson Valley. Do you hate the idea of corporate medicine or feeling like your only second fiddle? Does a toxic work environment really strike a chord? Feeling like ditching your drummer and changing your tune? Well, you're preaching to the choir! You are important to us and we understand and encourage the importance of a good work-life balance and positive work environment.

Creature Comforts Animal Hospital is a full-service, companion animal and exotic animal practice. Previous experience with exotic animals is a bonus, but not required. We are interested in all doctor applicants, Full time OR Part time, whether they desire to treat companion animals exclusively, or whether they desire to treat both companion animals and exotic animals. We will mentor and nurture any particular interest you have in the veterinary field, whether it pertains to species, diagnostics (e.g., ultrasound, etc.) or treatments (e.g., acupuncture, laser therapy, etc.).

Creature Comforts Animal Hospital is established and growing (uh, crescendo-ing?). As a multi-award winning and AAHA-accredited facility, we have top-notch standards and equipment to match. We have been voted Chronogram’s “Best Veterinarian in the Hudson Valley” for multiple years, Newsweek’s “America’s Best Animal Hospitals 2025, The Think Dutchess Business Excellence for “Small Business of the Year” 2023 and more!

We don't want to toot our own horn or sound like a broken record, but we do have all the bells and whistles here: in-house laboratory, ultrasound, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, tonopen, cautery, Cardell monitoring system, Sevoflourane and Isoflourane anesthesia, laser therapy, cloud-based veterinary software and all that Jazz! In short, you’ll never have to practice acapella. We have a large Technician : Doctor ratio and a team of people who get the job done and truly appreciate each other. At Creature Comforts Animal Hospital, we have a culture club of caring, compassionate, fun and family-oriented staff that really enjoy working together, in harmony!

We’ve pulled out all the stops. We have everything you need to practice the best medicine and will foster any interest, niche or forte. We have a great package and a generous salary waiting for you! If that doesn’t tickle your ivories enough, then feel free to chime-in, because we can fine-tune everything to your needs.

Don't let that be the whole song and dance, turn up the volume and let's design the right Full Time or Part time package for you:

  • Generous and competitive Full Time base salary, commensurate with experience and schedule, further bonus structure available.
  • Flexible schedule supporting a work: life balance
  • Part Time schedule and compensation package can be customized to fit.
  • Production Bonuses
  • Health, dental, vision Insurance
  • 401K retirement plan with 3% matching contribution from employer
  • Paid Time Off for vacation/sick/personal days

  • Continuing Education
  • Employee discounts on labs, services and products
  • Actual Mentorship
  • No On-Call Duty
  • Relocation Assistance (if needed)
  • Professional Development Assistance
  • Uniform Allowance
  • Supplemental Insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account
  • Membership to Hudson Valley Veterinary Society paid
  • Access to AI Scribe App for easier documentation
  • Access to VIN, Vetahead, Vetfolio and more…

No need to keep harping on it, but doesn't it sound like music to your ears?

If you are unfamiliar with Poughkeepsie and the Dutchess County/Hudson Valley Region, it is a combination of tremendous natural beauty and recreation alongside the conveniences of suburban life and college towns. You are surrounded by restaurants, breweries, vineyards, orchards, rivers, mountains and parks while also being proximate to the metropolitan centers of New York City (90 minutes south by train or car) and Albany (90 minutes north by train or car). At Creature Comforts, you can live whatever urban, suburban or rural life you desire outside of work.

Sound too good to be true? Well it’s not! We're not just Whistling Dixie here, we are for real! So, come jump on the bandwagon, jam with us and march to the beat of our drum! We can make beautiful music together. Mic Drop!

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you, with bells on!
