Job description

The Rose Gaming Resort is a $480 million gaming and entertainment complex destination, located alongside I-95 in Dumfries, Virginia. Along with exciting gaming action, The Rose Gaming Resort provides a luxury hotel, eight bars and restaurants, a space for meetings and events, 50,000+ square foot gaming space and over 1,650 Historical Horse Racing machines, and over 80 acres of green space. The Rose Gaming Resort generates an estimated $35.5 million in annual tax revenues and employs more than 500 team members.
JOB SUMMARY
As a Bartender, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our casino and lounge guests as they enjoy our selection of drinks and cocktails. You will be required to mix drinks accurately and efficiently while ensuring that all guests have a safe and enjoyable experience. You will also be responsible for keeping the bar clean and organized and helping to ensure that the bar is always stocked adequately. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills, a good knowledge of beverages and cocktails, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Performs additional job duties as assigned by Beverage Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Communicates with guests in a cordial and approachable manner with a smile, always. Expedites large quantities of drinks efficiently and accurately during club hours, in addition to serving multiple guests at the same time.
• Keeps bar top clean, ashtrays emptied, picks-up all trash and empties beer bottles. Prepares fresh fruit garnishes, juices, syrups and mixers from scratch, stocks bar at start of shift, and breaks down and cleans bar at close.
• Verifies the legal age of all guests that appear to be under the age of 30. All beverage orders are "cash and carry" at the bars and on the Casino floor. Ensures payment collection for each drink or round of drinks when ordered. Only exception being inside restaurants, where alcohol purchases are added to the guest's check, and the total is paid at end of meal. (In this circumstance, it is the Bartenders responsibility to ensure all beverages have been added to the proper guest check.)
• Responsible for a bank to receive payment from and give change to guests and Cocktail/Beverage Servers.
• Verifies alcohol inventory in the liquor cabinet is accurate at start of shift, and properly requests replacement alcohol bottles, through Bar Requisition Sheet at end of shift. Responsible for all monies owed and paying all outstanding debts, as well as void orders. Assists with special projects as directed by the Supervisor including, monthly meetings, special banquets, concerts, and special guests. Ensures proper set-up of bar tops including matches, ashtrays, beverage napkins, stir sticks, sword pics, garnish trays with ice, and garnishes. Reports any problems or concerns to immediate supervisor.
• Maintains knowledge of all drinks, recipes, and beer items available, the price of each, and how drinks are garnished.
• Responsible for taking scheduled breaks on time and in accordance with co-workers. Responsible to cash tips in, on their own time (during breaks or after clocking out). Always reports to work in a clean uniform.
• No eating, smoking, or chewing gum on the floor or behind the bar.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
In addition to the other duties described herein, each Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations.
• Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
• Obtain and retain required license(s).
• Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
• Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member's department.
• Have knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gaming.
• Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Gaming, Casino or hospitality experience preferred.
• Must be at least eighteen (21) years of age.
• Bartender Training and/or Previous Bartender Experience.
• OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to stand for longer than 8 hours.
• The ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Virginia Racing Commission License
Valid Driver's License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
