Job description

Description:  Mahomet-Seymour High School is accepting applications for an ATLAS Hourly Coach to support students participating in the ATLAS program for the 2026-2027 school year.  This person will serve as a mentor and role model while providing academic encouragement, supervision, and guidance in a structured environment. This position works collaboratively with program staff to promote student engagement, responsibility, and personal growth.  This would be a part-time hourly position, working approximately 2.5-3 hours per school day in the mornings.  


Responsibilities:

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students participating in the ATLAS program.
  • Provide academic support, mentoring, and encouragement to students during program activities.
  • Assist with supervising students and maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Reinforce expectations for student behavior and program participation.
  • Support students with organization, study skills, and completion of assigned work.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and program staff to support student success.


Qualifications:

  • Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or the Short-Term Approval for the Paraprofessional or the ability to obtain one of these license options prior to employment.
  • Experience working with high school-aged students is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.  
     


Salary:  The starting wage for this position is currently $25 per hour.  NOTE: Our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement expired at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and we are currently negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the 2026-2027 school year.
