About the Employer:
Mardan is a therapeutic not-for-profit school for students in grades K through 12 with special academic, social, and emotional needs. We are located in Irvine CA. Our mission is to improve the academic and emotional well-being of any child who struggles with learning, social, and/or emotional challenges. We provide a safe, therapeutic learning environment that teaches the academic, social, and coping skills needed for students to experience success.
Job Description:
Part-time Teacher position in a special education high school classroom of up to 12 students with social/emotional, learning, and behavioral issues. 2-3 classes taught per day; science and history.
Specific Requirements:
  • A valid CA Mild Moderate Special Education credential with autism authorization is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with special education, behavior management techniques, and/or working with children with autism spectrum disorders, is required.

  • Classes operate from late August to late July annually. (This is an 11-month position)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • $18,000 to $22,000 annually.
  • Employees are eligible to participate in the Mardan 403(b) retirement plan effective immediately upon hire.
  • Employees are eligible to participate in the Mardan SEP/IRA retirement plan after 3 years of employment.
  • Teachers earn 10 paid leave days during the school year. During the first year of employment, and any subsequent year that the employee does not work a full year for Mardan, paid leave days will be prorated based on the portion of the school year that the employee is employed by (and is present) at Mardan. Employees may only take 3 consecutive paid days off in a row unless otherwise preapproved.
