Fiber Splicer Instructor
Full-Time or Part-time
Immediate Opening
We are hiring a Fiber Splicing Instructor to lead hands-on training programs in fiber optic splicing, testing, and installation. If you're a seasoned technician who enjoys mentoring others and shaping the next generation of telecom professionals, we'd love to meet you.
Responsibilities:
-Teach fusion and mechanical splicing techniques in classroom and lab settings
-Demonstrate use of splicing tools, OTDRs, power meters and cleavers
-Guide students through cable prep, tray management, and enclosure installation
-Promote safety and enforce OSHA-compliant practices
-Develop and update curriculum aligned with FOA (Fiber Optics Association), ETA (Electronic Technicians Association), and BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) certifications
-Evaluate student performance and provide feedback
-Maintain training equipment and lab setup
-Collaborate with industry partners to align training with workforce needs
Requirements
Qualifications:
-5+ years hands-on experience in fiber splicing and testing
-Proficiency with fusion splicers (e.g., Fujikura, AFL, Sumitomo) and diagnostic tools
-Experience with splicing high count ribbon fiber a plus
-Prior teaching, mentoring or training experience preferred
-FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician), ETA Fiber Optics Installer, or BICSI certification a plus
-Strong communication and organizational skills
-Comfortable working in a classroom, lab and field environments
-Construction manager experience a plus
-Experience with aerial and underground fiber deployment a plus
-Familiarity with network architecture and fiber design a plus
-Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
