Job description

The Leaky Teat Dairy and Creamery, a start-up small-scale goat dairy, is looking for a Part-Time Goat Dairy Hand, where you will play a vital role in maintaining a healthy, productive, and humane goat dairy operation. This hands-on position offers experience in animal husbandry, milking practices, and various aspects of farm management. You will work outdoors and in barns supporting the daily care of our dairy goats. Duties

Assist with daily goat herd management, including feeding, watering, and health monitoring to promote animal well-being

Handle livestock with care, ensuring safe and humane treatment during routine procedures and movement

Operate ranch machinery such as skid steers to perform duties such as moving compost

Support herd health programs by assisting with vaccinations, hoof trimming, and other veterinary tasks under owner supervision

Maintain cleanliness of animal housing areas, ensuring compliance with safety standards in production

Help with manual handling tasks such as lifting feed bags or hay bales

Perform daily milking on 20-40 milking does by machine (and by hand, if necessary) while adhering to proper sanitary milking protocol

Requirements

Previous experience working with dairy goats and milking is highly preferred

Familiarity with livestock handling, animal husbandry practices, and farm animal care procedures

Ability to operate a skid steer

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions with physical activity including heavy lifting and manual handling

Strong understanding of safety standards in agricultural production environments
