Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant with a background as a Geologist, Engineer, Environmental Scientist, to join our team in Lenexa, KS.
This is a full-time position for a dynamic individual looking for career growth in environmental consulting. In this role, you will assist with environmental investigation, remediation, and permitting projects. You will produce technical reports for project managers (PMs) and have experience with federal and state regulatory frameworks to help guide projects for compliance. Various project tasks will be conducted alongside PMs with the opportunity to become a PM with demonstrated experience. This position requires a minimum of 25% time working in person at the Arcadis Lenexa, KS office and may require approximately 25% field-based tasks. You may visit project sites for oversight of project implementation, depending on project staffing needs.
Role accountabilities:
Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office-related tasks and will include regional travel.
  • Produce complex workplans within the RCRA/CERCLA or associated framework for subsurface investigations, evaluate data to (1) support conceptual site models for environmental investigations, (2) form phased and adaptive environmental investigation strategies, (3) modify and optimize post-remedy long-term-monitoring programs, and (4) produce complex RCRA/CERCLA or similar reports,
  • Address client and regulatory comments on deliverables and drive the strategy in achieving comment resolution with PM,
  • Exceptional communication with clients to review project status, regulatory framework, and support their needs,
  • Cost Estimating: prepare costs estimates to support establishing project budgets and evaluating subcontractor proposals,
  • Prepare subcontracts and coordinate all aspects of subcontractor tasks including schedule, compliance, coordination, health, and safety,
  • Provide emergency response support (environmental sample planning and collection, client and state/federal regulator correspondence, onsite contractor oversight) for derailments/HAZMAT spills, with the potential to travel throughout the Midwest.

Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline
  • Previous spill or derailment response experience
  • P.E. or P.G. license or working toward this goal
