About Us
Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Location
Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
The part-time temporary helper supports campus facility operations, building renovations, and routine upkeep. The role assists journey-level workers with manual labor, material transport, and basic repairs across campus buildings.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
Trade Assistance: Assist skilled plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, and HVAC mechanics with daily maintenance and installation tasks.
Semi-Skilled Labor: Perform basic tasks such as mixing mortar, cutting lumber, pulling wire, cleaning equipment, or threading pipes.
Site Preparation & Cleanup: Clear work areas, haul debris, remove old fixtures or baseboards, and set up temporary structures or scaffolding.
Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and building supplies to various campus job sites using university vehicles or handcarts.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Up to 6 months of general experience using hand and power tools or assisting in basic construction/maintenance.
A valid state driver's license in good standings.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a university setting.
1 year of general experience using hand and power tools or assisting in basic construction/maintenance.
Proposed Salary
Salary is commensurate with training and experience.
