Job description

As a Gate Agent with ProLog, Inc., you will play a vital role in providing Air Mobility Command (AMC) Gateway Passenger Services. Supporting the Defense Transportation System (DTS) at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) Airport, you will ensure a seamless, safe, and welcoming travel experience for military personnel and their families.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Passenger Processing & Boarding: Efficiently process passengers using automated and manual systems. Review military travel orders to determine eligibility, operate terminal security equipment, and manage Space Available/Space Required passenger lists.
  • Baggage & Payment Services: Process, weigh, and correctly tag passenger baggage to ensure compliance with travel limitations. Handle lost and found procedures and collect fees for excess baggage and travel incidentals per AMCI 24-101 Volume 14.
  • Specialized Passenger Care: Deliver dedicated assistance to passengers with physical limitations, families with small children or pets, and unaccompanied minors. Safely escort unaccompanied minors through customs and immigration, managing their custody during delays or mission aborts.
  • Customer Communication: Keep passengers well-informed regarding flight statuses, delays, boarding times, and gate changes via public address systems and visual displays. Conduct safety briefings and distribute delay letters or meal/hotel vouchers during extended delays.
  • Security & Weapons Handling: Maintain continuous surveillance of checked weapons from check-in until aircraft loading. Verify privately-owned weapons against customs documents, ensuring nomenclature and serial numbers match accurately.
  • Terminal & Aircraft Operations: Perform post-boarding and post-deplaning walkthroughs of departure gates, jetways, and aircraft to ensure no passengers or items are left behind. Inspect baggage claim areas for unattended luggage and monitor terminal cleanliness to ensure safety standards are met.
  • VIP & Transport Services: Coordinate with the Protocol office to process Distinguished Visitors (DVs). Transport passengers, aircrew, and company employees as needed.
  • Records & Data Management: Maintain accurate flight and passenger records in the Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES). Compile quality control reports, reconcile movement records, forward mission documentation to HQ AMC, and promptly resolve transportation or database irregularities.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in reading and writing English.
  • Proficiency in operating computers and web-based applications, specifically GATES (or the ability to learn required systems).
  • Must possess or acquire working knowledge of hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and prohibitive items regulations (AMCI 24-101, Volume 14).
  • Preferred: Prior experience as a gate agent, working in customer service, or handling and accounting for cash transactions.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform normal physical functions, including frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.

Required Security Clearance Eligibility:

  • Must be able to successfully complete a Tier 1 Investigation (favorable background check) to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) with the Department of Defense.
  • Highly Preferred: Candidates who already possess a previously completed favorable investigation or active clearance.
