Project Overview:

Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. As part of this work, the M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish-out a leading-edge chipmaking facility — a highly demanding environment where precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel are essential to success. The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce. Joining the Fab 62 team means contributing directly to one of the most strategically important construction efforts in the United States and helping deliver the infrastructure behind the next generation of microelectronics.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will support business lines and project team members regarding the Material Planning and/or Material Coordination for assigned project. Planning involves providing strategy, work process and system expertise during the early project development and execution planning stages. Coordination includes providing process and tools to project teams that communicate material availability, accuracy, and timeliness to the correct location to ensure the required materials to complete the project are available.

Assignment in the Design office is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. Assignment at the jobsite is designated full-time office per our global telework policy and the requirements of the jobsite.#LI-CS1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Implements the Material Management Plan and coordinates with Engineering and Construction to specify, identify, and quantify materials during front-end project execution.
  • Supports Project Scheduling and Supply Chain in developing the project schedule.
  • Follows guidelines to optimize materials planning processes for key commodities.
  • Works with functional project groups to determine the best strategy for major fabricated bulk commodities.
  • Ensures consistent material identification and clearly defined responsibilities between project functions, enabling efficient and economical purchase, supply, and accurate distribution of materials according to construction priorities.
  • Assists Engineering in implementing component numbering for bulk materials and spares.
    Identifies any special or lengthy requirements that could impact the timely issuance of key engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinates with Engineering and Expediting to identify critical supplier design drawings and data needed for timely issuance of design deliverables or construction needs.
  • Verifies material requisitions include required pay items and sufficient detail for shipping, storage, and control prior to construction installation.
  • Maintains direct working relationships with Project Controls, Discipline Engineers, Supply Chain, Automation Support, and Material Coordinators at the site to ensure Construction personnel have needed materials.
  • Monitors Engineering and Supply Chain deliverable schedules to ensure alignment with construction timelines.
  • Monitors material component aspects and data integrations related to the project Automation Plan for assigned discipline or commodity areas.
  • Acts as liaison between Project Supply Chain (for planning and reporting undelivered materials), Field Supply Chain (for received and stored materials), and Construction personnel (for constructability reporting).
  • Coordinates with responsible groups to ensure timely and sufficient material provision for construction completion.
  • Implements planned construction activities and work packaging through coordination with Field Engineering, Construction, (Sub)Contractors, and Project Controls.
  • Ensures accurate distribution of materials to Construction and Subcontractor installation locations.
  • Implements inventory control mechanisms, such as min-max and bag-and-tag, and uses Field Supply Chain automation tools to meet construction material requirements.
  • Identifies and reports excess materials for potential re-incorporation or disposition.
  • Coordinates material availability for design revisions, rework, contingency, or work-around plans.
  • Participates in Construction and (Sub)Contractor planning meetings to stay informed of changes in installation plans and priorities.
  • Prepares site constructability reports with 30, 60, and 90-day material forecasts and coordinates constructability look-ahead meetings.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Has worked in a project’s design office and at a construction jobsite and demonstrated experience in developing material management strategies that optimize supply chain processes, material scope definition, material demand planning, material acquisition and delivery, and constructability reporting.
  • Thorough understanding of design development processes associated to material identification, advanced work packaging methods, and scoping of material requirements to the construction schedule.
  • Firsthand experience working at a construction jobsite in a material coordination role that demonstrates understanding of Construction’s methods as it relates to material work front planning and implementation of work package methodologies.
  • Experience in coordinating with Project Planning teams, Engineering, and Construction to develop the integrated project schedule as it relates to the material flow model from early design development through the process of acquisition, delivery, storage, and issuance to Construction for installation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of major bulk material (i.e., pipe and steel) fabrication processes through experience working with or being assigned to a major manufacturer or fabrication facility.
  • Experience utilizing ERP material management systems to include familiarity with barcoding and RFID techniques.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft suite of tools to produce reports and analysis.
