Role Overview
The Drupal Web Developer / Search Specialist executes a targeted scope of work focused on redesigning the website home page and enhancing site search capabilities. This role handles front-end development, Solr search engine integrations, content placement, accessibility compliance (WCAG), and site security maintenance within a Drupal CMS hosting environment. The position offers flexible part-time hours ranging from 15 to 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities

Front-End Development & Search Optimization
• Execute a website home page redesign using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end web frameworks.
• Enhance and optimize site search capabilities utilizing Drupal search engine technologies, specifically Apache Solr.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to website functionality, server configurations, and user access in collaboration with IT support and external vendors.
Drupal Content Management & Accessibility
• Manage and update website content, including text, images, and multimedia elements, using the Drupal CMS platform.
• Ensure content placement meets organizational design standards, WCAG accessibility guidelines, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Configure and implement service-related links connecting to inter-departmental, local, state, and federal agency resources.
Website Security & Maintenance
• Implement website security best practices, including SSL/TLS encryption, firewalls, and malware detection/prevention protocols.
• Perform regular software, plugin, module, and theme updates to maintain security and monitor for vulnerabilities.
Required Qualifications
• 5 or more years of experience in web development, front-end engineering, and CMS administration.
