The Department of English and World Languages at Augusta University invites applications for a part time Instructor-Limited Term of French to teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced French courses starting in Fall 2026. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Teach a combination of elementary, intermediate, and upper level French courses
Teach 1-3 courses per semester
Teach in-person and/or online
Required Qualifications
M.A. in French or Master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in French)
Experience teaching at the university level
Experience teaching online
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is between 0.5-0.74 FTE and is considered partially benefits eligible. The FTE will be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the interview process with the successful candidate. The selected candidate will select from a retirement plan and accrue leave at a prorated amount based on finalized FTE.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Benefits include sick leave and generous retirement plans.
Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.
