Job Description
The University of La Verne is a private not-for-profit university founded in 1891 located in La Verne, California. The core values that we live by are Ethical Reasoning, Diversity and Inclusivity, Lifelong Learning and Community and Civic Engagement.
The Department of Modern Languages is seeking a part-time instructor of French, to begin August 17, 2026. The position will entail teaching an elementary French language course each semester (French 100 - Fall 2026; French 101 - Spring 2027), either as regularly scheduled classes or directed studies. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence and a sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
A Master's degree in French or a closely related Humanities discipline is required, as is native or near-native fluency in French and English.
Preferred Qualifications
College-level teaching experience and familiarity with current communicative, proficiency and/or task-based methodologies are highly desirable; preference will be given to candidates who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
