Job description

Experienced Carpenter

Hansen Contracting & Repairs, LLC
North Plains, Oregon
$28–$36/hour DOE
Part-Time, On-Call | Variable Hours | Potential for Full-Time

About Us

Hansen Contracting & Repairs is a locally owned residential general contractor serving North Plains and surrounding communities.

As our company continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced, well-rounded carpenter to join our team. Our work includes residential remodeling, custom carpentry, decks, exterior projects, and home repairs, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable taking on a variety of projects.

We're a small, growing company that values quality craftsmanship, reliability, honest communication, and treating our customers' homes with respect.

About the Position

We're looking for an experienced carpenter who can step into projects with minimal training and work independently when needed. This is not an entry-level position.

You'll work both independently and alongside our owner/general contractor depending on the project. The ideal candidate can be given a project scope, understand what needs to be done, troubleshoot problems as they arise, and complete high-quality work without requiring constant supervision.

This is a part-time, on-call position with variable hours and no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week. Hours will be based on project needs and employee availability.

For the right person, there is potential for this position to transition into consistent part-time or full-time employment as our company and workload continue to grow.

Our projects vary and may include:

  • Kitchen and bathroom remodeling

  • Interior renovations

  • Rough and finish carpentry

  • Custom carpentry and built-ins

  • Stairs and railings

  • Fences and gates

  • Exterior carpentry and repairs

  • Siding repairs

  • Rot and water-damage repairs

  • Drywall repair and finishing

  • General residential repairs and maintenance

  • Punch-list and finish work

  • Other residential construction and carpentry projects as needed

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of professional residential carpentry and/or remodeling experience

  • Strong rough and finish carpentry skills

  • Broad residential remodeling and repair experience

  • Experience with deck and exterior carpentry

  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, install, troubleshoot, and problem-solve

  • Ability to understand project scopes, plans, measurements, and specifications as applicable

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to safely and proficiently operate standard construction tools and equipment

  • Dependable and able to reliably report to scheduled projects

  • Professional and respectful when working in customers' homes

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to project locations

  • Stairs and railings

  • Fences and gates

  • Drywall repair

  • Interior and exterior trim

  • General residential troubleshooting and repairs

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Takes pride in their craftsmanship

  • Pays attention to detail

  • Doesn't cut corners

  • Can think through problems independently

  • Communicates when something doesn't look right

  • Is dependable and shows up when scheduled

  • Keeps a clean, organized, and safe work area

  • Treats customers, their homes, and their property with respect

  • Communicates professionally with customers and our team

  • Is comfortable working independently as well as alongside others

Schedule

This is a part-time, on-call position with variable hours based on our project schedule.

There is currently no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week. We will generally provide at least 24 hours' notice when scheduling work and will provide additional advance notice whenever possible.

Occasionally, we may offer work with less than 24 hours' notice due to unexpected project needs; employees are not required to accept shifts offered with less than 24 hours' notice.

We understand that an on-call position requires flexibility on both sides and will communicate upcoming work and scheduling needs as far in advance as reasonably possible.

This may be a great fit for an experienced carpenter looking for flexible or supplemental work.

For the right person, there is potential for this position to transition into consistent part-time or full-time employment as Hansen Contracting & Repairs continues to grow.

Compensation

$28.00–$36.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

This is an hourly, non-exempt W-2 employee position. Overtime, when applicable, will be paid in accordance with Oregon and federal law.

This position is eligible for protected sick time and other employment protections as required by Oregon and federal law.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume or a summary of your professional residential carpentry and remodeling experience.

Photos or examples of previous remodeling, carpentry, deck, or repair work are encouraged.

Qualified applicants may be contacted for an interview and asked to provide professional references.
