Part Time, 4 hours dailyGeneral SummaryThe Transportation Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of studentsEssential Functions:Ensures the safety and well-being of children being transported to and from school or learning setting and on field trips, including but not limited to:Ensuring children safely get in/out of car and into the custody (only) of those individuals authorized to receive them;Follows and ensures mandated child restraint device procedures, ensuring children are properly positioned and restrained (babies fastened in car seats, and seat belts for older children).Engages in activity that is:Safe and appropriate for a moving vehicle; andConsistent with Developmentally Appropriate Practices to make the trip pleasant and comfortable.In the event of an accident or emergency, assures the safe evacuation of children and adults passengers (following the Car Evacuation Plan) and assists in assuring that all passengers are transported to the nearest hospital or to their private physician, as per Medical/Accident Emergency Plan.Assists in completing accident reports, when appropriate.Attends all scheduled staff meetings, team meetings, and training, as requested.Answers parents' questions, if possible and tells them any pertinent information about the child's bus/car ride or condition.Assists in maintaining the interior of the vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition.Assures that no child is ever left unsupervised on a bus.Performs other duties, as may be assigned.
