STARTING WAGE: $18.16+ per hour (based on experience)
This position is part time, 4 hours per day (9:45 am - 1:45 pm), Monday through Friday, during the school year. See attached work calendar for exact work dates. This position comes with paid time off and is benefit eligible.
Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide assistance in preparing and serving food for school meals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Prepares foods for meals
  • Serves meals; monitors condiment tables, serving lines, etc.
  • Cleans tables in cafeteria
  • Orders supplies for dish room; puts away supplies. Assists with end of year inventory
  • Monitors dishwasher temperature; maintains log
  • Fills in for cook and other food service personnel as required
  • Restocks food and other items as required
  • Follows safety and sanitation standards. Cleans and sanitizes food preparation areas; washes dishes, pots and pans, utensils, counters, tables, sinks, equipment, coolers, etc., puts away dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of School Nutrition Program

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
High school graduate with two to four months food service experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate a variety of food preparation equipment and appliances, including meat slicer, steam kettle, steamer, mixer, microwave, convection and conventional ovens, dishwasher, coffee pot, steam table, etc.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must have current physical on file with the District Office certifying applicant is able to meet all job qualifications

Mathematical Ability
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide

Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and/or prepare a variety of documents, including menus, menu explanation sheets, recipes and food buying guides, sanitation regulations, catering and lunch orders, delivery receipts, equipment manuals, production sheets, meal pattern requirements, time cards, etc.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of documents including product use lists, using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
  • Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, school nutrition personnel, administrators, custodians, delivery personnel, repair persons, and others verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use and interpret food service terminology
