Job Description
Summary:
The Unconventional (TU) is seeking exceptionally qualified Korean Interpreter / Role Player to provide support with foreign language interpretation, transcription, reporting, translation services, along with role play exercise support for a military exercise in Oahu, HI.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Shall provide oral interpretation and perform basic role player functions as directed. Interpreters will be expected to translate discussions between personnel during training exercise.
  • Shall properly convey associated cultural and linguistic meaning during interpretation and/or translation of source material.
  • Will be expected to follow units through training lanes and must be able to conduct field operations.
  • Shall provide interpretation, transcription, and translation services as required by the supported elements.
  • Shall be at the specified sites depending on mission requirements.
  • Perform such other duties as are customarily performed by other persons in similar such positions, as well as such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the employer.
  • Dates are 02 - 13 June for 8-hours per day.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have experience and skill in Korean and English translating/interpreting, transcribing and documenting conversation.
  • Must possess professional (native level/ILR 3/3/3 or greater) working proficiency in Korean and English.
  • Must have experience providing consecutive interpretation services between English and Korean native speakers.
  • Must possess skills to quickly and effectively translate between Korean /English & English/ Korean in a large group setting while discussing one or more topics.
  • Shall have the familiarity with and ability to conduct oneself in accordance with Korean culture and customs.
  • Shall have the ability to function as an integral member of a team of professionals.
  • Able to work for a minimum of eight (8) hours a day up to twelve (12) hours a day throughout the duration of the exercise event.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Prior military experience.
  • An industry recognized certification, background, etc. that illustrates you possess the language proficiency in order to satisfactorily support the resulting contract.

Must Provide the following:
  • Must provide your own vehicle to get to the training site.

Travel: Travel is required. Interpreter/Role Player will receive daily per diem rate for the duration of the training exercise.
