Paladin Security is Hiring a Commercial High Rise & Retail Security Guard!

Location: Calgary, AB
Schedule: Rotating Days, Nights, Weekends & Holidays
Pay Rate: CA$21.00 – CA$23.00/hour
Employment Type: Part-Time

Overview

Build a meaningful career in security using your communication, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution skills. Paladin Security is seeking highly professional and confident Security Guards to support downtown commercial high-rise properties and busy retail locations throughout Calgary.

At Paladin Security, people come first. You'll receive comprehensive pre-employment and site-specific training, work at some of Calgary's most recognizable locations, and become part of a team dedicated to making communities safer and friendlier.

Please note: First Aid, Use of Force (UOF), and MOAB certifications are required as a condition of employment. Paladin Security covers the cost of these certifications with a six-month commitment to the position and availability requirements.

This position is physically demanding and requires extensive patrols, stair climbing, outdoor work, and the ability to work flexible rotating schedules.

ResponsibilitiesSecurity Operations
  • Conduct high-visibility patrols by foot, bicycle, or vehicle.
  • Engage with tenants, visitors, customers, and employees while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Identify, report, and follow up on hazards, safety concerns, and property deficiencies.
  • Assist tenants and merchants with incidents, emergencies, and security concerns.
  • Report criminal activity and coordinate with law enforcement when required.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, and AED assistance.
  • Complete detailed incident reports using site reporting systems.
  • Manage trespassers and unauthorized individuals safely and professionally.
Operations Centre Duties
  • Monitor security systems and act as the central communication hub for site operations.
  • Coordinate incident response and dispatch security personnel as required.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of all activities and incidents.
  • Review CCTV footage for investigations and law enforcement requests.
  • Answer and manage incoming security-related calls.
  • Monitor, enable, and disable fire alarm and sprinkler systems when required.
  • Follow site policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.

Requirements

Must Have
  • Valid Alberta Security License or ability to obtain one.
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required Paladin training and certifications within three months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace products.
  • Experience using CCTV systems, two-way radios, and computer-based security platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions during emergencies.
  • Physically capable of completing patrols exceeding 15 km per shift, including stairs and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 20+ lbs safely.
  • Ability to perform First Aid and assist with medical emergencies and de-escalation situations.
Nice to Have
  • 3–4 years of security and life-safety related experience.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems and life safety systems.
  • Experience coordinating emergency response activities.
  • CCTV investigation and evidence review experience.
