Job description

Topview Sightseeing is looking for Servers to join our team and be the first point of contact for our guests. You should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure our guests have a positive experience from the moment they arrive till their departure. We are looking for someone who will have the patience, personality and perseverance to thrive in this role. Ultimately, you'll ensure we provide excellent guest service with high standards and a pleasant cruise experience to our guests.
Responsibilities:
  • Servers are responsible for opening and closing side-work which can include, but is not limited to:
  • Polishing Glassware and Silverware
  • Setting the Dining room for brunch/Dinner service with the appropriate table setup.
  • Preparing side stations with appropriate amount of pens and backups
  • Making sure lamps and handhelds are charged before service, and put to charge after.
  • Making sure sugar caddies and salt and pepper shakers are replenished
  • Coffee stations are clean and fully stocked.
  • Servers should welcome guests aboard and assist them in seating comfortably in their designation section
  • Servers are required to up sell bottled water options
  • Servers are responsible for accurately taking guests food and drink orders, while collaborating with the kitchen and bar staff for prompt and correct delivery of orders
  • servers are responsible for memorizing the menu dishes and cocktails while upselling premium options
  • Servers are to assist with the upkeep of tables, bussing, and keeping the dining area presentable.
  • Servers are responsible for setting and rearranging the dining area to accommodate reservations appropriately
  • Handle mooring lines to dock or undock the vessel
  • Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, and bridge operations in all weather conditions
  • Perform lookout duties while underway, including watching for other vessels and monitoring the waterway for potentially unsafe conditions
  • Assist in boarding and disembarking of passengers
  • Assist with filling water, bunkering fuel, unloading black water, connecting and disconnecting shore power as directed
  • Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property, including maintenance and construction tasks as assigned and minor engineering repairs and rounds as directed
  • Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism
  • Maintain passenger count
  • Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity
  • Assist with training of crew as directed
  • Seek continuous improvement
  • Assist the Captain in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
  • Assist the Captain in ensuring the vessel is in an inspection-ready condition at all times
  • Monitor passenger & crew member safety issues on the boat. Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials
  • Participate in meetings, training, drills and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy
  • Develop the understanding of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of the location and use of all firefighting and safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, fire stations, life preservers, work vest, and life floats)
  • Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Report safety, operational, and environmental issues to your direct supervisor immediately
  • Additional job duties assigned

Requirements:
  • This position requires a pre-employment drug screen due to federal contract requirements.
  • Proven work experience as a Server
  • Hands-on experience with cash register and ordering information system
  • Attentiveness and patience for customers
  • Active listening and effective communication skills
  • Team player
  • Previous marine experience preferred
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts .
Pay: This position pays $17/hr + tips
