Job description

Job Title:  Alarm Board Operator [Part-Time]

DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM) seeks to hire and train an Alarm Board Operator for our 9-1-1 center.  This position is part-time, 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, non-union, and eligible for IMRF pension participation. 

 

Position Summary:

·                 Alarm Board Operator job duties include monitoring and processing incoming burglar and fire alarms, handling phone calls from business owners, alarm companies, member agencies, citizens, and completing clerical work related to the alarm system. 

·                 Must achieve and maintain LEADS Certification

·                 All other duties as assigned or per operational need.

 

Hours/Schedule:

·                   In-person position only, remote work is not an option

·                   Part-Time, 30 hours per week, possibly 0700 to 1300 shift

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Applicants must be able to accurately type at least 35 wpm
  • Attention to detail and multi-tasking are essential
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Police, Fire, EMS, or alarm monitoring experience
  • Knowledge of public safety communications systems
  • Experience with multi-line telephone equipment
  • Computer/data entry experience

Pay Rate:

·                 Starting pay rate is $23.80 per hour, FLSA exempt.

·                 The pay range for the Part-Time Alarm Board Operator position is $23.80 – $30.44 per hour, depending upon qualifications

·                 Annual increases include a May 1st COLA increase plus an anniversary Step increase.

•          Eligible to participate in IMRF by maintaining over 20 hours average per week; IMRF includes pension, retirement savings, disability, and life insurance benefits

•          This position does not include any health insurance benefits

·                 Eligible to purchase supplemental life insurance benefits
