School Finance Manager (Part-Time)

The Archdiocese of Miami Office of Catholic Schools, located in Miami Shores, Florida, is hiring for a part-time School Finance Manager . This position provides coordination and oversight over financial processes that relate to Catholic schools, including such areas as budgeting, salary scales, contracts, scholarships, and other designated areas. The candidate reports to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools and performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with and support of the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: To be determined, 24 hours/ week.
Essential Functions include:
  • Coordinate the budget planning process for Catholic schools, including distributing the budget template and reviewing individual school budgets.
  • Oversee the salary scale for teachers and administrators. Provide ongoing training in salary scale usage.
  • Generate, distribute, and track principal and midlevel administrator employment agreements.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for educational personnel.
  • Provide training and educational resources for state and federal scholarship programs (e.g. Family Empowerment Scholarship, etc.). Assist schools in resolving scholarship-related questions and issues.
  • Coordinate the application process for tuition assistance and select scholarships administered by the Archdiocese.
  • Assist with the resolution of accounting issues related to Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliations, Statements of Activities, Statements of Financial Position., in close coordination with the Finance Department of the Archdiocese.
  • Maintain the finances for the elementary and secondary Catholic Athletic Leagues.
  • Assist schools with financial planning and budgeting needs, as required.
  • Generally oversee and manage financial data related to Catholic schools.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Financial Management, Accounting, or related field, with 5 years of professional-level experience required.
  • Preferred: Experience in school personnel (particularly Catholic school finance); MBA in finance/accounting, and/or CPA.
  • Good oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
  • Good Spanish-language spoken communication skills strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and practices, including record keeping and data security methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices on non-for-profit accounting a plus.
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and general ledger.
  • Ability to maintain high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
  • Demonstrated history of maintaining confidentiality concerning financial and contributor files.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
  • Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
  • Must be able to multi-task and retain accuracy in an environment of competing deadlines.
  • Possesses integrity, diligence, and dedication to the Catholic educational mission of the Archdiocese of Miami.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic.
