Adjunct - AY26 Film Production Instructor

Description of Position:
The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate our students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty and administrators. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply.
The LACCD is accepting applications for part time adjunct Film Production Instructor positions at West Los Angeles College (WLAC) for the 2026 Academic School Year. The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants so that when there is an actual opening the college can then begin their review process by reviewing those applicants. If you have applied to previous pools in this discipline, you will need to apply to this pool to continue to be considered.
Qualified applicants may be offered an interview with Film Production members at WLAC. Final determination of part-time Film Production Instructor assignment is contingent upon enrollment, funding and class availability.
Through a unique relationship with the IATSE unions and AMPTP employers, the Film/TV Production at WLAC program trains students for specific below-the-line crafts jobs within the entertainment industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking part time adjunct faculty to teach ONE of the specialized crafts of:
Stagecraft - Local 33
Set Dressing - Local 44
Grip - Local 80
Camera Loader/Digital Utility- Local 600
Apprentice/Assistant Editor- - Local 700
Set Lighting-Local 728
Set Painting - Local 729
Motion Capture and Motion Graphics
Virtual Production - Local 839
The successful candidate will:
• Have a thorough understanding of the entertainment industry crafts of the position they are applying including the latest skills, technology and media required in the union crew jobs.
• Supervise equipment purchase, replacement and repair to meet industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with the policies, rules, regulations, and procedures of the LACCD.
• Demonstrate experience and ability to teach the most current technology on the latest platform.
• Collaborate with faculty in Arts & Performance.
• Be aware of global trends and experience/knowledge of all current and emerging technology.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience; OR
Associate's degree and six years of professional experience;
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students.
NOTE: Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Member (or retired in good standing) of IATSE for which you are applying.
  • Worked more than 6 years on IATSE productions as a key or lead position.
  • Cultivating employment pathways to the entertainment industry.
  • Advising students on pathways to careers, certificates, degrees, and transfer.
  • Working on Film and Television productions and a demonstrated ability to support the.
  • Film/TV Production departments' films and projects.
  • Hiring and leading crews in your craft.
  • Thorough knowledge of all entertainment industry safety and COVID requirements on set and ability to teach the specific safety classes required in your craft.
  • Familiarity with diverse modes of instruction, including online, hybrid, and web-enhanced delivery.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to instruct students with widely varying learning styles using a variety of successful teaching techniques, including creating innovative academic learning environments.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and/or learning disabilities.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT COVID 19 VACCINATION:
Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated and complete a baseline test or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.
COMPENSATION
The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $86.85 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.32 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
