Job Description
Responsibilities: The School Physical Therapist is responsible for providing therapy services to students with physical disabilities or developmental delays, supporting their ability to participate in school activities and access the educational environment. The therapist will assess, plan, and implement individualized therapy programs for qualifying students, working collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families. This position requires extensive travel between school locations and maintaining compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Assess Students: Conduct evaluations using standardized tests, clinical observations, and review medical/educational reports to determine therapy needs.
  • Develop Therapy Plans: Create and implement individualized therapy programs for qualifying students.
  • Document and Report: Maintain records, including IEPs, evaluations, progress reports, and other required data.
  • Consultation: Work with teachers, staff, and parents to optimize student function in the school environment and recommend strategies.
  • Adapt Equipment: Modify and maintain specialized equipment for therapy, and recommend options for students' needs.
  • Provide Training: Offer in-service training to school personnel and support inclusion efforts.
  • Travel: Provide services across multiple school locations.
  • Ensure Compliance: Adhere to state guidelines, school board policies, and IDEA requirements in all clinical and administrative tasks.

Qualifications
  • Education: Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certification/Licensure: Valid state Physical Therapy license (any state).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in physical therapy, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other special education regulations. Experience with individualized education programs (IEPs) and student inclusion practices is preferred.
  • Valid Driver License and Comfortable with Commute
  • Legal to Work in the United States and be able to pass background check and screening.
