How much do part time fashion model jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 29, 2026, the average yearly pay for part time fashion model in Washington is $117,978.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $78,100.00 and $141,600.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a part time fashion model?

Part time fashion models are individuals who work in the modeling industry on a non-full-time basis, often balancing modeling assignments with other jobs, studies, or commitments. They participate in photo shoots, runway shows, and promotional events, representing fashion brands or products. Part time models typically have flexible schedules and may be booked for specific projects or short-term contracts rather than ongoing work. This role requires maintaining a professional appearance, following instructions from photographers and designers, and adapting to various styles and themes. Many part time models use this work as a stepping stone to a full-time modeling career or as a way to gain experience in the fashion industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time fashion model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Fashion Model, you need a strong sense of body awareness, posing ability, and an understanding of current fashion trends, often supported by a professional portfolio. Familiarity with industry-standard booking platforms, digital submission tools, and sometimes basic photo editing is valuable. Excellent communication, confidence, adaptability, and punctuality help models stand out when working with photographers, designers, and agencies. These skills ensure that models can effectively represent brands, maintain professionalism, and secure ongoing assignments in a competitive industry.

What are the typical scheduling expectations and flexibility for a part time fashion model?

Part time fashion models often work on a project-by-project basis, with schedules that can vary significantly depending on client needs. Assignments may be booked with short notice and can occur during weekdays, evenings, or weekends, so flexibility is essential. While this allows models to pursue other commitments or education, it can also present challenges in balancing multiple responsibilities. Effective communication with agencies and clients is key to managing your availability and ensuring a steady flow of work.

What is the difference between Part Time Fashion Model vs Part Time Runway Model?

AspectPart Time Fashion ModelPart Time Runway Model
CredentialsPortfolio, basic modeling experiencePortfolio, runway training, height requirements
Work EnvironmentPhoto shoots, catalog shoots, commercial settingsFashion shows, runway events, live presentations
Employer & IndustryFashion brands, photographers, advertising agenciesFashion designers, modeling agencies, event organizers

Part Time Fashion Models typically work in photo shoots and commercial settings, focusing on still images, while Part Time Runway Models participate in live runway shows emphasizing walking skills and height. Both roles require modeling portfolios, but runway models often need specific training and height standards. Understanding these differences helps aspiring models choose the right path based on their skills and career goals.

How much does a part time fashion model get paid?

Part-time fashion models typically earn between $15 and $50 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, location, and the type of assignment. Rates can vary widely, with high-profile or commercial work paying more, and models often negotiate their fees based on the job requirements.

How to get a job as a part time fashion model?

To become a part-time fashion model, build a professional portfolio with high-quality photos, attend open casting calls, and submit applications to modeling agencies. Having a good understanding of runway walking, posing, and maintaining a healthy appearance can improve your chances. Networking within the industry and staying persistent are also important steps.
