Exercise Control (EXCON-A) Academics (Part Time)
Quantico, VA
The EXCON Alpha (EXCON-A) Academics reports to the MSTP Project Manager and receives work direction derivatives from the EXCON A Lead.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide on-call support to scenario and academic product development, contributing to concepts, intelligence injects, and other exercise-related materials as assigned.
  • Support the Exercise Development Division Head and MSTP Exercise Control Officer during selected academic planning conferences and required planning events.
  • Provide recommendations to the Exercise Control Officer and MSTP Exercise SOP.
  • Participate in conferences or meetings-on-site or off-site-on an as-needed basis to support exercise design or academic preparation.
  • Support the planning and execution of selected academic programs (e.g., GOWP, SAW, SAMS) and develop and deliver academic classes and practical planning exercises for Marine Corps University (MCU) and other service schools.
  • Assist as needed with MEF exercises (MEFEXs)/MEB Exercises (MEBEXs) and Large-Scale Exercises (LSEs), systems training/familiarization, and role-playing responsibilities.
  • Coordinate as required with exercise-control agencies and participate in scenario development conferences and working groups.

EDUCATION
  • Master's degree is required; major in operations research, management, military science, or equivalent area is desired.
  • Minimum three years of experience in military training and education. Attendance at Intermediate Level School, such as Marine Corps CSC, or completion of equivalent nonresident course is required. Completion of Advanced ILS/TLS and attendance at SAW or NWC is preferred.

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum eight years of operational experience planning, deploying, and employing ground combat, aviation, supporting arms, or combat service support units.
  • Minimum five years of MEF level command element experience at the senior field grade equivalent level, including principal staff planning across multiple joint warfighting functions.
  • Minimum three years of demonstrated knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and operational level command relationships.
  • Minimum two years of experience in DoD modeling and simulation.

CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills required. Proficient in the entire suite of MS Office and able to quickly learn additional systems. Familiarity with SharePoint and C2PC is desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus
  • Daily travel in local area during workday (including use of personal vehicle)
  • Be able to work an unstable schedule, to include holidays and weekends.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for up to three weeks at a time (or longer).
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.

SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • A Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is required.

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION
  • $70,000-$170,000
