The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently seeking qualified individuals who will recruit, design and deliver safe, fun, dynamic and effective personal training sessions, while also providing outstanding hospitality to ensure a positive user experience.  The Morning - Personal Trainer will promote a safe and positive atmosphere in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. This is a part-time on-site role required to work early mornings.   


This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization, just 5 miles west of New York City in the waterfront city of Perth Amboy, NJ.  The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912.  We enthusiastically serve over 6,000 members in the Raritan Bay area in our community building initiatives through Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility. 


This Morning - Personal Trainer will design and deliver safe, fun, dynamic and effective personal training sessions, while also providing outstanding hospitality to ensure a positive user experience and inspire members to achieve their fitness goals in a fun and inclusive environment. The Morning - Personal Trainer will promote a safe and positive atmosphere in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The ideal candidate should be passionate about fitness, have strong communication skills, and create an energetic atmosphere for participants of all fitness levels.


Essential Duties:

  • Design and deliver safe, fun, dynamic and effective personal training sessions
  • Provide outstanding hospitality to all members and guests, initiating a professional relationship with members in regard to their needs, concerns, and questions about the YMCA, its programs and its mission.
  • Recruit new clients and retain current clients.
  • Preform client assessments.
  • Schedule and coordinate client sessions, in a timely manner.
  • Record and report sessions to supervisors.
  • Maintain familiarity with current fitness trends, protocol, methods and programs.
  • Maintain required certifications
  • Notify supervisor of any equipment out of service or in need of repair.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate action for emergency situations.
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events when necessary

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lead group fitness classes and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift weights or equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to move quickly, demonstrate exercises, and maintain physical stamina during classes.

Position Details/Schedule:

  • Part-Time/Nonexempt:  Schedule is based on the members/staff personal training needs
  • Morning Shifts:  5:00-9:00 a.m.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in exercise science, physical education, recreation management, or related field preferred.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
  • Current Personal Trainer Certification from a nationally recognized organization (ACE, AFAA, ASCM, NSCM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of strength training and cardiovascular equipment
  • Proficient in areas of exercise physiology, exercise prescription, and human anatomy
  • At least five years experience in health and wellness programming
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
