Monday through Friday days (variable days). Will be three 8-hour shifts. No weekends. Closed on holidays that Physician's offices are closed.

Atrium Health Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary program dedicated to improving the health, function, and quality of life of individuals with chronic respiratory conditions. The team provides evidence-based exercise training, patient education, breathing techniques, and disease management strategies to help patients increase endurance, reduce symptoms, and achieve greater independence. The Lead Exercise Physiologist plays a key role in program coordination, clinical leadership, and the development of individualized exercise plans while collaborating closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, registered dietitians and rehabilitation professionals to deliver exceptional patient-centered care.

Job Description:

The position is responsible for evaluating and treating complex patient populations across both inpatient and outpatient settings, following a referral from appropriate medical personnel. The role involves developing tailored exercise prescriptions for a diverse range of clinical populations, utilizing clinical judgment and adhering to each patient's individualized treatment plan. In addition to direct patient care, the position serves as a resource and mentor to other staff members, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and ensure high standards of care.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate complex physiological data to design and implement individualized exercise prescriptionsin accordance withestablished clinical guidelines
  • Modify exercise prescriptions based on patient response, clinical presentation, and documented medical or musculoskeletal conditions
  • Lead the planning, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of exercise programming
  • Monitor exercise sessions and group activities to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to program standards
  • Provide training, orientation, and ongoing work direction to exercise staff; serve as a clinical resource and professional role model
  • Assign and review staff work;monitorproductivity and ensureappropriate staffinglevels
  • Participate in recruitment and selection activities; support staff development; provide performance feedback andassistwith resolution of employee concerns

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Certified Exercise Physiologist(EP) or Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), based on area of responsibility and scope of practice.Roles focused on non-acute, preventive, or wellness-based programming may be filled by an ACSM Certified Exercise physiologist (EP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology

Experience Required:

  • 2-3 years of relevant clinical experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members
  • Excellent organization, decision making, andproblem solvingskills
  • Strong computer skills

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to give and receive verbal communications on a continuous basis. Must be able to read written communications on a continuous basis both hard copy and on a computer screen. Able to compose written communicationsfrequently.Able to lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds or less occasionally.Able to perform motor skillsasreaching out/up. Frequent periods of walking, standing, sitting. Infrequently squatting, twisting, and bending.
