Job description

Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator runs and helps maintain construction equipment used for excavation, grading, roadwork, land clearing, utility installation, and other earthmoving work. This job means following safety rules, checking equipment, and getting the work done safely and accurately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Operate equipment like excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, rollers, and dump trucks.

- Handle excavation, grading, trenching, loading, hauling, and site prep.

- Do daily equipment checks and report anything that needs repair.

- Work safely around utilities, structures, and other crew members.

- Follow OSHA, company, and all other safety requirements.

- Keep equipment clean and in good working condition.

- Help out with general labor when needed.

- Stay in touch with supervisors and the crew to keep work moving on schedule.

- High school diploma or GED preferred.

- Experience operating heavy construction equipment required.

- Ability to run multiple types of equipment.

- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and operating procedures.

- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

- Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and getting the job done efficiently.

Physical Requirements

- Sit for long periods while operating equipment.

- Climb on and off machinery safely.

- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

- Work outdoors in different weather conditions and on uneven ground.

- Be available for overtime and occasional weekends as needed.

Work Environment

Work takes place on logging sites in all kinds of weather and requires strict safety compliance and PPE use at all times.
