Job description

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company throughout the Southeast with a commitment to creating quality culinary concepts from scratch. This standard was upheld through the expansion into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services by providing elevated concessions and premium offerings to collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, & more.
Proof of the Pudding, operator of DUKE University , is looking for Catering Attendants/Event Servers to help facilitate events and to provide Front of House support at different DUKE University events. The ideal candidate will be available for a range of event types including athletics, special events, and catering events. We are offering competitive pay and on-the-job training at one of the most scenic venues in North Carolina.
This is seasonal/part-time work as business needs are dictated by athletic/catering events.
Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure the setting of suites, clubs, and buffets completely.
  • Must be able to set up for events, carry equipment, serve guests, and clean up at the conclusion of the event.
  • Quickly respond to guests needs.
  • Maintain proper dining experience and fulfilling customer needs.
  • Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards.
  • Knowledge of event menu items and their contents.
  • Responsible for setting buffet stations which may include décor.
  • Running food to events as needed.
  • Serve and clear food and beverage quietly, professionally, and quickly, using proper serving and clearing techniques.

Performs other related duties as required.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of upscale/VIP service styles preferred.
  • Live within 25 miles of DUKE University campus preferred.

Work Environment
The work environment for this position will be event operations and working out of the Football Stadium or similar venues. This position will often move throughout campus and stadium grounds on different terrains.

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of being in one place, moving through an event space, and traveling from venue to venue.
  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting up-to 30+ pounds.
