Description
Ushers are part of the Front of House (FOH) team and provide a welcoming and professional guest experience at all performances and events. Ushers are responsible for seating, audience support, and maintaining a safe, orderly, and enjoyable environment for patrons, artists, and other guests. Ushers may be asked to assist with additional tasks, as needed, to support theatre operations, customer service, audience experience, pre- and post-show activities, and the safety and security of guests and staff.
Job Duties
  • Greet patrons and scan tickets at entry points, using ticket scanning devices and other basic event technology.
  • Assist guests with seating and direct patrons to available seats as instructed.
  • Provide programs or other event materials to patrons as needed.
  • Support ADA access and accommodations.
  • Maintain awareness of venue safety, including visually checking seating areas, aisles, and lobbies.
  • Monitor and support crowd flow in the lobby, portals, and theater.
  • Enforce venue rules respectfully and maintain a professional presence.
  • Attend pre-event meetings and required training sessions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of venue locations, layout, and emergency/evacuation procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with FOH staff, security, and event managers as needed.
  • Assist with pre-show setup, post-show breakdown, or other duties as assigned by management.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal skills, and a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Handle a variety of personalities and situations with tact, diplomacy, poise, and firmness when necessary.
  • Be punctual, reliable, and able to work in fast-paced, busy environments.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to uniform requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of two-way radios and other FOH communication tools.
  • Perform other duties as required by management, to support event operations, guest safety, and audience experience.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service skills and positive attitude.
  • Ability to read small print, such as tickets.
  • Availability to work varied shifts that include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to climb stairs repeatedly and staff balcony areas.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds and assist with setup of furniture for events as directed.
  • Work in environmental conditions such as noise, flashing or dim lighting, and heights.
  • Communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
