Job description

Hammond School is an independent pre-kindergarten through 12th grade school located in Columbia, SC. As a member of our part-time exempt security team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall safety and well-being of our school community. From monitoring our premises and controlling access points to responding to emergencies and maintaining order, you will play a vital role in creating a secure environment for our students, staff, and visitors.
Specific Duties Include:
  • Site access control
  • Public relations and awareness
  • Providing a visible deterrent against crime by providing site patrol functions
  • Traffic control
  • Providing enhanced security during special events
  • Lock and key control
  • Detect, mitigate and report unsafe conditions
  • Providing escort responsibilities as required by site management

Required Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have 2 - 5 years' experience of providing general site security services
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license
  • Must possess strong observation and attention to detail skills
  • Strong communication skills

Physical and Performance Requirements:
  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Respond on foot and vehicle in a timely manner
  • Provide non-violent intervention
  • Able to lift 25 lbs as well as moving security equipment
  • Ability to safely operate Hammond owned site vehicles
  • Monitor security cameras and dispatch security personnel as needed
  • Provide visitors, students and parents with personal direction and informational guidance throughout the standard school day, and during special events
  • Ability to provide additional security related duties in accordance with site security procedures
  • Ability to write accurate and appropriate event and incident reports
  • Complete a comprehensive Hammond specific security training program
