Job description

Part-Time TRANSFER DRIVER CDL Required
Reports To: Truck Sales Support Manager
Summary
The Transfer Driver will shuttle trucks from branch to branch or from branch to customer on an on-call, as-needed basis. The transfer driver may also pick up units at the manufacturer or upfit locations. Adherence to DOT regulations and safety protocol is required.
This position may also be a part-time position and have limited hours.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts maintenance checks utilizing the vehicle maintenance form to record the safety and functionality of the assigned vehicle.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of assigned vehicles (interior & exterior) in accordance with company policy.
  • Plan a route for efficient delivery while maintaining positive expectations.
  • Ensure all trucks are delivered safely and accurately to locations.
  • Collect, secure, and properly document all trucks delivered.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Candidate must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Position requires a Class A commercial driver's license and the ability to operate motor vehicles. All drivers must maintain a safe driving record.
  • Navigation skills/GPS
  • Working hours: Drivers may work varying hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on the nature of their job. They may also be required to work long hours or be on-call for deliveries or specific assignments.
  • The working conditions for this position are primarily outdoors, year-round, with varying weather and road conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Pre-employment physical, drug screen, and eye exam.
  • Mobility: The individual should be able to move easily in and out of the truck and perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, and climbing in and out of the cargo area. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Vision: Good eyesight and visual acuity are important for the individual to safely operate the vehicle, read signs, and navigate the road.
  • Hearing: The individual should have good hearing to be alert to sounds such as sirens, horns, and other road warning signals.
  • Manual dexterity: The individual should have good manual dexterity to operate the vehicle's controls, including the steering wheel, pedals, and other dashboard controls.
  • Lifting: While heavy lifting may not be a frequent requirement, the individual may occasionally need to load and unload items from the truck's cargo area, which may involve lifting and carrying moderate-weight objects.
