Job description

Description
The position will work closely with PI Sophie Gonick, Department of Social & Cultural Analysis, on a project that examines immigrant housing landscapes in Queens. The project seeks to understand the various housing and real estate practices immigrants pursue in order to attain residential and economic stability and the possibility of upward mobility. The position would assist the PI in performing and coding interview, identifying potential interviewees, and conducting secondary research.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Code interviews in MAXQDA
  • Assist with preparing and carrying out in depth interviews with immigrants
  • Identify potential interviewees through social media, advertisements, and snowball sampling
  • Conduct secondary research

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base rate for this position is $30/hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be hybrid, with up to two days per week in person.
Note: No supervisory duties are required for this position.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Knowledge of ethnographic research and coding practices
  • Ability to use MAXQDA
  • Fluency in Spanish
