Job Summary
This position can be scheduled to work in several areas in the SRC such as Front Desk, Cardio Deck, Weight Room or Rec Express.
All areas must provide customer service to patrons using the Student Recreation Center. The Information Desk Staff is a source for information concerning events and locations with the Student Recreation Center as well as elsewhere on campus. It is important that Information Desk Staff knows the answers to questions or can find the answers to questions when asked. The Information Desk Staff is expected to help enforce building policies and provide security for the facility in terms of what items are brought into and removed from the building
This position will also supervise and Monitor the Cardio and Weight Rooms and adjacent workout spaces ie basketball court, and movement rooms located in the Student Recreation Center. This position will maintain inventory at the Rec Express and check out equipment to patrons.
Responsibilities
  • Act as security/information for the Columbus State University Student Recreation Center;
  • Monitor participant activity in and out of the facility;
  • Explain, interpret and enforce building rules/policies;
  • Answer facility and program related questions;
  • Perform general office duties;
  • Provide members with information on Campus Recreation programs;
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned;
  • Contact appropriate building staff to deal with issues and needs;
  • Fusion software/Access control system;
  • Pro Shop Operations;
  • Rec Express;
  • Cash Management;
  • Equipment checkout procedure;
  • Welcome, greet and provide assistance to facility users;
  • Provide safe and effective instruction of all cardiovascular and weight training. Offer useful, tactful, and safe advice to individuals regarding their exercise program and/or use of equipment;
  • Maintain and clean exercise equipment;
  • Inform facility users of various Campus Recreation sponsored programs;
  • Enforce all facility and program policies;
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned;
  • Check out rock-wall equipment and manage rock wall waivers.

Required Qualifications
  • Customer service Retail experience Enthusiastic;
  • Good communication skills Professional;
  • Quick Learner.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Sport management major Business management major Exercise Science major Recreation experience;
  • Campus Rec Involvement ie Intramurals, Group fitness etc.

Physical Requirements
  • Be able to walk around and bend to clean equipment.

Work Schedule
  • 3.5 hour shifts during the week and some weekends Sunday thru Saturday.

Proposed Salary
$8/hourly. This position will work up to 19 hours per week.
