Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, sales, and customer success teams to ensure products meet customer needs and assist in launching products.

  • Join customer meetings as a product expert to teach, learn, and engage with customers about Planet's ARD offerings.

Job description

About the Role:

As a Senior Product Manager at Planet, you will support the development and go-to-market execution of our Analysis Ready Data (ARD) product suite - including Mosaics, Analysis Ready Planetscope (ARPS), and Fusion. You will collaborate with engineering, design, sales, and customer success teams to plan requirements, track delivery, and help launch products that meet real customer needs.

Planet's Analysis Ready Data products - Mosaics, ARPS, and Fusion - are where raw satellite imagery becomes something a customer can actually use to make decisions: tracking deforestation, monitoring crop health, supporting disaster response.  This role sits at the intersection of some of Planet's most technically complex products and its most demanding customers. You'll work closely with engineering, solutions, and sales to help customers realize value faster. Expect exposure to the latest technology in geospatial, defense tech, and AI-native products.

You will contribute to the product strategy of the Imagery and Platform product group, helping grow a ready to analyze suite of imagery and data products for enterprise customers and internal flagship solutions. This role is an opportunity to build deep product craft and domain expertise in satellite imagery, geospatial analytics, and AI-powered data tools.

Product Management at Planet is not a direct supervisory role over engineering teams. To be effective, you must demonstrate a strong commitment to collaboration and to Planet's cultural values, agile principles, and leadership through influence.

This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco or Arlington office 3 days per week.

Impact You'll Own:

  • Document product requirements, synthesize customer feedback, and assist with sprint planning and delivery tracking alongside engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with the data team to build and maintain product metric dashboards, including time-to-activation and retention.
  • Support early-access programs for new ARD features to validate product-market fit with real customers.
  • Partner with the pre-sales team as a product expert to help ensure optimal product-customer fit for direct-to-consumer sales.
  • Help prototype customer-facing solutions using AI tools to demonstrate the industry-specific value of ARD products.
  • Join customer meetings as product expert and evangelist for Planet's ARD offerings - teach, learn and engage with enthusiasm!
  • Synthesize customer and sales input into clear use cases and product requirements.
  • Partner with our internal Solution builders as your primary user to help Planet transition to a solutions-oriented company.
  • Contribute foundational data products for AI-native solutions.

What You Bring:

  • 6+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, or a closely related role.
  • Comfort with software development concepts and workflows; experience working directly with engineering teams is a plus.
  • Ability to make decisions that align with Planet's technical and strategic roadmap as well as Planet's core values.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to build alignment across cross-functional teams through clear communication and a collaborative approach.

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Experience with monitoring-focused EO products.
  • Background in remote sensing science, image processing, or geospatial data analysis.
  • Experience building and scaling core data or imagery products that serve multiple market segments.
  • Experience working closely with technical customers and understanding their imagery and remote sensing use cases.
  • Experience with remote sensing, geospatial data, or satellite imagery.

Application Deadline:

October 29, 2026 at 11:59p PT

EAR/ITAR Requirements:

This position requires access to export-controlled information, and as such, employment (or hiring of a contractor) is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.

  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision plans
