An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a sharp Respiratory Therapist at UR Medicine Thompson Health! We are a premier healthcare provider in the Finger Lakes region. Schedule: Part time, two 12-hour shifts (7:00 am to 7:30 pm) including rotating weekend & holidays.
Pay Range: $38.00 - $48.00 (based on experience)

Required Job Specific Competencies:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology in all areas that pertain to the practice of respiratory care.
  • Understands disease processes and their impact on the cardiopulmonary system.
  • Possess technical skills in equipment operation as related to respiratory care.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide best-practice care and excellent outcomes for the patients.
  • Exhibit flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.
  • Function as a team member, relaying clear and concise communication to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and hospital system.
  • Exhibit the CARES values in all interactions within the health system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs basic and advanced respiratory care procedures - 90%
    • Performs all modalities in a timely fashion and according to policy and procedure.
    • Cleans, processes, and troubleshoots equipment.
    • Performs patient assessments & recommends changes to therapy from evidence based findings.
    • Responds courteously & quickly to calls for service from internal & external customers.
    • Responds quickly & in accordance with policy & procedure for all "Code" calls within the healthcare system.
    • Communicates care needs clearly &effectively to coworkers and other members of the healthcare team.
    • Accurately records all productivity
    • Documents all patient interventions in Epic or using downtime process
    • Documents appropriately in supporting records such as the EMAR.
    • Performs complete & correct billing entry to ensure accurate representation of services performed for billing purposed.
  • Performs additional duties within scope of responsibility as required. - 5%
  • Maintains health/education records and skills as required by licensure and healthcare system requirements. - 5%

Qualifications:
  • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Licensed or has valid Permit as a Respiratory Therapist by New York State Education Department Office of the Professions (NYSED OP) website
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required within three (3) months of start date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification required within one (1) year of start date
  • Graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy program - Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or Bachelor of Science (BS) required
  • Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
  • New graduates may be hired into a Respiratory Therapist position pending determination by the director.

Pay Range: $38.00 - $48.00
