Graphic Designer and Sign Production Specialist
  
Port Signworks of Newburyport, MA is looking for a Part Time Graphic Designers and Sign Production Specialists.
Mon - Friday 30-35 hours per week, and could work into full time position.
Graphic Designer Description:
The graphic designer will design sign artwork based upon customer specifications. Working together with the other members of the team, the graphic designer will organize and schedule jobs, and assign them to the vinyl fabrication personnel to be completed. In addition, they will assist with sales and customer service as needed, often working directly with clients in order to best assess the solution for a specific order.  The candidate must have a good eye for attractive and functional design. While artistic talent is helpful, effective and practical layout skills are important.  They must be comfortable designing and creating with vector-based graphics software, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.  Knowledge of Flexisign is also a plus.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A working knowledge of Adobe cloud software, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop IS REQUIRED.  
  • Previous sign shop experience is helpful.  
  • Customer service skills both on the phone and in person are very important.  
  • Experience with vinyl’s and substrates, as well as fabrication and application methods, is also a plus. 
  • A candidate lacking such experience but willing to gain such knowledge is welcome.
  • The artist must be capable of working on his or her own, and able to be trusted to complete work in a timely fashion. 
  • Personal and professional maturity are an absolute must.  
  • The candidate selected will be comfortable dealing with people and will be prepared to offer courteous and helpful customer service to our clients.  
  • Willingness to collaborate with the team and assist the production team as needed.

Sign Production Specialist Description:
The Production Specialist can be considered a full cycle position.  They will be involved with jobs from beginning to end.  In the production process they take design files and use design software like Adobe Illustrator to prep graphics for printing and then prep the printed files for installation on Jobs like vehicle lettering, wraps and architectural signage. They will be responsible for the operation of wide-format printer/plotters and laminators and perform the tasks of printing, laminating, cutting, weeding  and mounting of vinyl graphics to various precut substrates.  Cut substrates to various shapes using our CNC table and CO2 Laser Cutters and UV print onto various substrates with our Mimakii UV printer.  They will then assist with the physical installation of the signs.  This will include using power tools, ladders, tape measures and levels to ensure proper placement the sign.  If you are the type of person who likes being both artistic and working with your hands then this is the position for you. 
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid Drivers License to operate company vehicle: Safely transport signs and materials to client sites.
  • Ability to Multi-Task:  Ability to switch from computer work to table work to field installation.
  • Detail Oriented: The ideal candidate needs to be a detail-oriented, self-motivated team player. who is determined to provide outstanding service to our customers.
  • Must have Math Skills: Basic Math (fractions/decimals) for precise measurements and layouts.
  • Personal and professional maturity are an absolute must.
