Position Summary

We are looking Event Staff, this is an entry-level position in the field of event planning and building operations suited for recent graduates and individuals looking to pursue a career in the sports and entertainment industry.ย 

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00-$20.00 CAD

About the Venue

Oak View Group (OVG) is currently seeking part-time event staff for the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, ON. The Mattamy Athletic Centre is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility at Toronto Metropolitan University located in the former Maple Leaf Gardens. The facility consists of an NHL-sized arena that seats approximately 2,700 for hockey and ice events and 4,000 for stage events. The facility's double gym can accommodate up to 1,000 spectators under various configurations, including basketball, volleyball, and special events. There is also a 10,000 sq. foot fitness centre and over 12,000 sq. feet of office and meeting room spaces.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the operations department during event setups and tear downs.
  • Work with the events department and external clients in the preparation and execution of events.
  • Assist with custodial duties to maintain building cleanliness.
  • Represent the company in a polite and professional manner using proper customer service skills.
  • Direct customer service complaints and inquiries to the proper manager/supervisor.
  • Abide by facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a safe working environment for all employees by following the life safety and emergency program as needed.
  • Work events on an ongoing basis, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Maintains the proper image and generates positive public relations with patrons and staff.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an arena or recreation facility is considered an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A self-starter with good communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills and an ongoing awareness of client satisfaction.
  • Willingness to work regular evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, plus an understanding of the physical nature of the work.
