Job description

Job Title: Part-Time House Manager

Location: Clayton, Missouri 63105

Employment Type: Part-time, 15 - 18 hours per week (15 hours guaranteed)

Schedule: Flexible weekday schedule, 2-3 shifts per week between approximately 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Compensation: $28-$32/hour based on experience

Start Date: Mid July

Requirements:
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation with valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Up-to-date vaccinations per CDC recommendations for adults

About Our Family

We are a busy family of four in Clayton, about 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis. Both parents own their own business, with one working outside the home and the other managing her company from home full time. Our children are 2.5 and 13 months, and we also have a beloved 9-year-old 50-pound aussie/pointer mix dog.

We are in a season of transition as our youngest starts full-time daycare at the end of June and we continue settling into our newly built home after moving in this past December. We are excited to establish routines and systems that allow us to spend more quality time together as a family. We are grateful to have the support of nearby family, and often have grandparents helping throughout the week. We love our new space where we can enjoy entertaining friends and family throughout the year.

Our goal is to find someone who can help manage the details of daily lifeinventory management, laundry, light meal prep, organization, and general household supportallowing us more mental space to focus on our careers and spend quality time together as a family.

Who You Are/ What We're Looking For

You are a reliable, detail-oriented person who thrives on organization and takes pride in maintaining a well-run home. You enjoy working in a busy family environment where you can provide structure by managing household needs and logistics. While this is not a childcare role, you like children and understand that as ours grow and change, our needs might evolve. You are willing to jump in where asked and consider yourself a team player.

You are someone who notices when something needs attention and addresses it without being asked. You are friendly and value building a long-term relationship while maintaining professionalismyou are someone who can read the room, engage in light conversation when appropriate, and maintain clear boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:Household Organization & Maintenance
  • Maintain daily tidiness throughout the home with particular focus on first-floor common areas (kitchen, great room, entryway)
  • Reset and tidy daily: put items away, wipe down counters, load/unload dishwasher, manage trash and recycles, vacuum high-traffic areas and couches
  • Prepare home for weekly house cleaners
  • Cut and arrange fresh flowers in vases
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Manage seasonal clothing swaps for children as directed, being mindful of cleaning out sizes as they grow
  • Reset guest room when visitors stay
  • Provide transportation for children (pickups and/or drop offs) on a rare basis, as needed
  • Walk dog occasionally
  • Manage pet supply inventory
Inventory & Errands
  • Run miscellaneous errands as requested: returns, dog food, steak and kitchen knife sharpening, gift shopping
  • Restock all household supplies (toiletries, paper goods, cleaning products)
  • Maintain running household supply list
  • Break down boxes and manage recycling
Meal Support
  • Create grocery list and shop in-person for all grocery items based on provided weekly meal plan
  • Put groceries away and wash/prep (e.g. chop, store) fruits and vegetables for easy snacking
  • Prepare simple slow cooker meals approximately 1-2 times per month (10-minute assembly)
  • Batch meal prep for weekly adult lunches (simple chopping and assembly for salads, etc.) and family breakfasts as requested
  • Prep school lunches for children as requested
  • Maintain clean and organized kitchen
Laundry & Linens
  • Collect, wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry
  • Provide special care for garments regularly: steam, iron, stain treat, etc.
  • Coordinate with dry cleaning pickup/delivery service
  • Rotate bed linens and towels, remake beds
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as on-site contact for home maintenance vendors
  • Coordinate and schedule annual maintenance services: window washing, gutter cleaning, HVAC using provided vendor list
  • Create and manage routine maintenance calendar for the home and follow through on scheduled maintenance appointments; communicate with family on progress as needed
  • Tidy outdoor space before entertaining (light weeding, wiping down outdoor furniture, cleaning off and/or putting out pool toys, ensuring drink fridge is stocked)
Administrative & Event Support
  • Assist with coordination for hosting events, including scheduling vendors (caterers, bartenders, etc.) and light prep tasks (e.g. assembling cheese plates)
  • Prepare home for entertaining, including outdoor spaces, as needed
  • Book reservations for travel or local entertainment as needed
  • Track receipts, etc. for work-related expenses
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
  • Periodic toy rotation and decluttering as requested
  • Deep clean humidifiers and espresso machine on a regular schedule
  • Clean kitchen cabinets (wipe exterior and vacuum crumbs inside)
