The Position

We are seeking a part-time, 1-1, in-home high school tutor in Northern Virginia, DC, or Maryland. To be competitive, it would be ideal if you have past experience teaching/tutoring AP US History. Bonus points if you have also taught AP World or AP European History.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience tutoring or teaching AP US History and other high school English and history courses. We value tutors with a broad range of instructional experience in high school history and English.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Current or former AP US History classroom teachers are highly encouraged to apply!

Duties

  • Academic planning and instruction
  • Conduct 60-120 minute private individual lessons in student homes, weekdays 4-10 pm, and/or weekends
  • Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents and students
Compensation

Top Score Education offers highly competitive compensation. The starting pay range for this role is $45-$65 per hour. As they grow and develop with our company, Top Score Tutors can earn up to $80 per hour.
Logistical Requirements

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • A weekly commitment of a minimum of 8 teaching hours per week (for example, 1-2 weekday evenings and one weekend day)
  • Consistent access to a car (work is primarily in students’ homes 1:1) and willingness to drive up to 30 minutes to a lesson (travel bonus for longer travel).
