NV5 (Dade Moeller) is looking for a part-time Certified Health Physicist (CHP) to support a client in the Erlanger, Kentucky area.

This role is ideal for an experienced health physicist who enjoys applying their technical expertise to real-world challenges. The selected candidate will support radiological and environmental emergency response activities, including incidents involving radioactive materials, hazardous substances, oil spills, and other environmental releases.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable balancing field work, technical analysis, and problem solving and can provide expert guidance when situations are complex and time-sensitive.

Provide technical health physics expertise during radiological, chemical, and environmental emergency response activities. Conduct environmental assessments and evaluate potential impacts associated with radiological releases and other hazardous incidents. Deploy, operate, and maintain radiation detection, environmental monitoring, and sampling equipment. Advise on the identification, handling, packaging, transportation, and disposal of radioactive materials and contaminated waste. Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental monitoring data using GIS, modeling tools, and other technical applications. Ensure radiological and environmental response equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, inventoried, and ready for deployment. Prepare technical reports, field documentation, and assessment summaries. Develop and improve procedures, guidance documents, and standard operating practices related to radiation protection and environmental response. Support training activities by developing course materials, delivering presentations, and mentoring staff. Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response deployments as needed.

Qualifications

Required

Current certification as a Certified Health Physicist (CHP) through the American Board of Health Physics. Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in health physics, radiation protection, radiological assessment, emergency response, environmental monitoring, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Engineering, Physical Science, Natural Science, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated experience supporting radiological emergency response, hazardous materials incidents, environmental investigations, or field operations. Experience working with radiation detection instrumentation, environmental sampling programs, data management systems, and technical reporting. Strong understanding of federal radiation safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and health physics principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to travel and respond to emergency situations on short notice, including occasional participation in 24/7 response operations.

The pay range for this Washington position is $75- $85 per hour; based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. NV5 may provide stay bonuses or relocation allowances as part of the compensation package. Medical, dental, and vision insurance are also offered to full-time employees, along with Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts, with employee and employer contributions. NV5 offers 3 weeks of Paid Time Off a year for full-time hourly employees along with 8 paid holidays a year and Flexible Time Off plan for full-time salary employees along with 6 paid holidays a year. 401(k) savings plan; Company Paid Basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance; Company Paid Short-term and long-term disability insurance are also provided.
