Timken's Philadelphia Gear brand is seeking a part time Engineering Co-op in the greater Philadelphia area to work at the King of Prussia, PA office. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Support of analytical engineering work including design and analysis of spur, helical, bevel, epicyclic, and worm gearing, fluid film bearings, rolling element bearings, shafts, seals, and housings 
  • Assist in the determination of manufacturability, cost effectiveness, safety, and quality of gearboxes and components 
  • Assist in reverse engineering existing gearboxes and components 
  • Create and modify solid model files using Solidworks to prepare them for FEA 
  • Support FEA study of gearboxes and components using Solidworks Simulation 
  • Support design engineering, application engineering, field sales, customer service, and manufacturing functions (King of Prussia and Regional Service Centers) 
  • Support conversion of legacy software code from Fortran to Python using AI 
  • Complete tasks in a dependable and thorough manner within required time frame 
  • Function well in a collaborative multidisciplinary team with a proactive approach and good written and verbal communication skills 

Key attributes include the ability to multi-task, set priorities, meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and organization, set goals, ability to work as part of a team and the ability to interact with all levels of customers and internal support teams. Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office software), strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Applicant must be currently enrolled in an engineering program from an accredited college or university.
