Job description

The IT Resilience and Assurance Analyst supports Hearst Technology Services' Organizational Resilience team by helping strengthen enterprise technology resilience, operational maturity, governance practices, and continuous improvement across critical technology services.

This position is designed for individuals early in their technology careers who want practical exposure to the disciplines that keep enterprise technology services reliable, resilient, well-governed, and continuously improving, including business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, operational assurance, change management, quality assurance, operational risk management, technology governance, and AI-enabled operational improvement.

Working alongside experienced technology professionals, the analyst will help develop resilience capabilities, evaluate operational effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities, and build innovative AI-powered solutions that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, enhance decision-making, and increase the value delivered by Hearst Technology Services.

Role Summary

The role combines operational resilience activities, including business continuity planning, disaster recovery, crisis management, and operational readiness, with operational assurance activities that evaluate governance, documentation, operational controls, service maturity, and continuous improvement opportunities.

Equally important, the analyst will help identify practical opportunities where artificial intelligence, automation, and modern technologies can improve Organizational Resilience services.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Resilience

  • Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning activities.
  • Assist with Business Impact Analyses and operational risk assessments.
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises, tabletop exercises, and crisis management activities.
  • Help develop and maintain business continuity plans, disaster recovery plans, recovery procedures, and operational documentation.
  • Support incident response activities and post-incident improvement initiatives.
  • Research emerging technologies and best practices that strengthen organizational resilience.

Operational Assurance

  • Participate in Operational Assurance reviews across HTS technology services.
  • Collect, organize, and validate documentation, operational evidence, reports, dashboards, and supporting artifacts.
  • Compare documented processes with actual operational practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with operational maturity assessments using established methodologies.
  • Evaluate governance, operational controls, documentation quality, ownership, and reporting effectiveness.
  • Help identify operational risks, process gaps, and recommendations that improve service quality and consistency.

AI Innovation & Solution Development

  • Assist with and learn the design, prototyping, building, and continuous improvement of AI-powered solutions that streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Assist in developing AI assistants, copilots, knowledge bases, intelligent workflows, and automation solutions using approved enterprise AI platforms and low-code technologies.
  • Assist with dashboards, operational scorecards, and AI-enabled analytics that provide meaningful business insights.
  • Learn about and help evaluate emerging AI technologies and help recommend practical use cases that create measurable business value.
  • Assist with measuring the effectiveness of AI solutions and help improve them based on user feedback and operational outcomes.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to ensure AI solutions align with enterprise governance, security, and responsible AI practices.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in developing operational standards, procedures, playbooks, and documentation.
  • Support technology governance and operational consistency initiatives.
  • Participate in process improvement projects across Hearst Technology Services.
  • Track remediation activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate across Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Cloud, Enterprise Applications, and Service Management teams.
  • Support executive reporting and operational metrics.

  • Experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar technologies.
  • Interest in designing AI-powered solutions, automations, or intelligent workflows.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Power Automate, Python, or low-code development platforms is a plus.
  • Exposure to ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, GitHub, or similar collaboration platforms is a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.

This role is intended to develop early-career technology talent while strengthening Hearst Technology Services' resilience, assurance, governance, and AI-enabled operational improvement capabilities. The analyst will contribute to practical work across business continuity, disaster recovery, operational assurance, reporting, documentation, and solution development, with an emphasis on learning through meaningful enterprise initiatives.

Position Type / Schedule

Part-Time Schedule: This benefits-eligible, part-time role is 21 hours per week across three flexible workdays, mutually agreed upon based on business needs and the employee's academic or personal schedule.

Work Location: This is an in-person role based at Hearst's New York City office.
