Description
Position Title: SMART Project Coordinator
Schedule: Part-Time (18 hours per week)
Timeline: September 1, 2026 - August 31, 2027 (with possible extension)
Location: New York, NY
The Silver Mental Health & Support Resource Network (SMART - silver.smart.nyu.edu) is an online community for members of the extended NYU Silver School of Social Work community. It is designed to connect NYU Silver students, alumni, faculty, and licensed mental health professionals through networking, mentorship, referrals, professional development, and shared resources.
As SMART continues to grow, the Project Coordinator will serve as the primary ambassador for the platform, leading marketing and engagement efforts, cultivating partnerships across NYU and the broader social work community, supporting strategic growth initiatives, and ensuring an engaging experience for members. This position works closely with NYU Silver leadership, University Alumni Relations, the Office of Global and Lifelong Learning, and external partners, to expand SMART's reach and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing, Communications, and Brand Development
  • Develop and implement an annual marketing and communications plan to increase awareness and participation in SMART.
  • Create marketing materials, digital content, promotional campaigns, and outreach strategies that highlight SMART's mission and member benefits.
  • Design newsletters, email campaigns, website announcements, and social media content to support ongoing engagement.

2. Community Engagement and Membership Growth
  • Develop strategies to increase member enrollment, participation, and long-term engagement across students, alumni, faculty, and professionals.
  • Track member enrollment, engagement trends, and participation metrics to inform outreach efforts.
  • Cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to strengthen SMART's visibility and expand its professional network.

3. Platform Administration and Operations
  • Review and approve new member registrations and verify professional credentials and licensure, as appropriate.
  • Monitor member activity to ensure compliance with SMART's Code of Conduct and community guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the website developer to identify technical issues, recommend enhancements, and support ongoing platform improvements.
  • Maintain accurate membership records and monitor user activity to support continuous quality improvement.

4. Strategic Partnerships and Leadership Support
  • Support the planning, coordination, and facilitation of the SMART Advisory Board meetings.
  • Participate in monthly Advisory Board meetings and assist with meeting materials, follow-up, and implementation of recommendations.

5. Reporting and Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare monthly reports for NYU Silver leadership summarizing:

• Membership growth
• User engagement
• Marketing activities
• Outreach efforts
• Platform utilization
• Partnership development
• Recommendations for continued growth
  • Track key performance indicators and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach and marketing initiatives.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, 2-4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in marketing, communications, digital engagement, or community management.
  • Familiarity with audiences relating to mental health, behavioral health, wellness, and social good.
  • Demonstrated success developing marketing campaigns and promotional materials across multiple platforms.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.), Canva or Adobe Express, WordPress or other content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Experience building partnerships and engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with higher education, alumni engagement, behavioral health, or social work strongly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze engagement data and use metrics to guide strategic decision-making.

This position is classified under the professional research staff category at NYU and does not qualify for visa sponsorship including STEM OPT extension. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment.
