Registered Nurse (RN) – 1099 Independent Contractor / Part-Time
Pay: $65-$70 per hour (DOE)
Exceptionally Me Inc. is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide clinical oversight and training for our Supported Living Services (SLS) program. This position is ideal for an RN who is passionate about educating direct support staff while ensuring the health and safety of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Position Summary
The RN will provide ongoing nursing oversight, staff training, and medication management support for a client with specialized medical needs. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with a flexible schedule and approximately 1 hour per week of scheduled nursing support, with additional hours as needed for follow-up, physician appointments, or training updates.
Responsibilities

  • Train and model proper blood glucose monitoring techniques.
  • Educate staff on insulin administration procedures and following prescribed sliding scale protocols.
  • Provide training on seizure recognition, response, and documentation.
  • Train staff on recognizing signs and symptoms of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and appropriate reporting procedures.
  • Conduct routine check-ins with both staff and client to ensure medical care plans are being followed.
  • Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) and other medication documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Follow up after physician appointments to ensure all medication changes are accurately documented and communicated.
  • Coordinate with physicians and pharmacies to ensure prescriptions are sent to the correct pharmacy and medications are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff regarding the client’s medical needs.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation and communicate any concerns to management.
Qualifications

  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience (preferred).
  • Experience with diabetes management, insulin administration, seizure disorders, and medication management.
  • Strong teaching and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
Schedule

  • Initial onboarding/training: Approximately 2 hours.
  • Ongoing schedule: Approximately 1 hour per week, with flexibility for additional time as needed for physician follow-up, staff retraining, or changes in medical condition.
Requirements for Contracting

As this is a 1099 Independent Contractor position, applicants must provide: 
  • Proof of current California RN license 
  • Proof of professional liability insurance (malpractice insurance)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification 
  • Ability to submit invoices and maintain independent contractor status
Compensation

  • $65-$70 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
