Job Summary
JSL is seeking an energetic, experienced, polished, and highly motivated part time Development and Communication Coordinator to support and expand our fundraising efforts. This individual will play a critical role cultivating donor relationships and assisting with development operations of Raiser's Edge, including donor stewardship and event support. This is an in office position located in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
The ideal candidate combines warmth with professionalism, is an exceptional writer, and understands the nuances of donor engagement and nonprofit development.
Key Responsibilities
Gifts & Donor Cultivation
  • In collaboration with Director, identify, cultivate, and solicit donors for gifts .
  • Maintain strong relationships with donors through thoughtful communication and outreach.
  • Write personalized thank-you notes and donor correspondence.

Communication
  • Newsletter Creation and website expertise in sending out the weekly Shabbat Shalom.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Director for website updates, social media posts.

Donor Stewardship & Database Management
  • Strong proficiency in Raiser's Edge software is critical to maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure donor communications reflect gratitude and professionalism.

Events & Meetings
  • Assist in committee planning and executing donor events and fundraising functions.
  • Support event logistics, including registration, name tags, and post-event follow-up.
  • Ability to work closely and professionally with volunteers, donors and board members.
  • Prepare materials and coordinate meetings with key stakeholders and donors.

An interest in Grant Writing & Management
  • Assist in the research, writing, and submission of grant proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely reporting and stewardship.

Qualifications
  • 2+years of experience in fundraising or donor relations (preferably in a nonprofit setting)
  • Proficiency in donation software/ CRM (Raiser's Edge or similar)
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience with Canva, social media, and basic photography
  • Confident, kind, and gracious demeanor; able to build relationships with donors and community leaders
  • Professional phone and email etiquette along with gracious writing of personalized thank-you notes and donor correspondence
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with a collaborative spirit
  • Event coordination experience is a plus
