Part-time

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

Six Pixels Film & STEM Academy (www.sixpixelsfilmacademy.com) is a creative youth education program offering fun, engaging, hands-on classes and special events in moviemaking, stop motion, art and animation, video production and editing, movie acting, puppetry, set and prop design, cosplay and character development, and STEAM fundamentals such as robotics, circuitry, CAD design, and 3-D printing, all wrapped around a unique STEAM-enriched, story-centric curriculum.

We help children explore STEAM in a safe, collaborative, active, and social environment, promoting teamwork, confidence, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking. Offering after-school programs, homeschool classes, summer camps, workshops, events, field trips, Kids' Night Out, birthday parties, and more, Six Pixels offers a structured curriculum that builds a multitude of real-world career skills through carefully designed challenges that encourage students to create stories, develop technical and artistic skills, spark the imagination, and have some fun with science along the way.

We are currently hiring a part-time instructor (10-15 hours per week) for youth stop motion and animation after-school programs, filmmaking workshops, and special events. Will train on the curriculum, previous teaching experience preferred; video editing experience a plus.

Job Details:
  • Will assist a group of 6-12 children per class, ages 7+, to create original stories, direct, operate camera and sound, and edit their own work. Background in education or film preferred.
  • After-school programs are taught at several schools across the Houston region, typically between the hours of 2-5pm; locations and times will vary each day, so instructors need reliable transportation to be able to arrive early, set up equipment, teach class, and break down after class. Camps and special events are held at our studio in the North Houston area.
  • When not teaching, instructors will assist with video editing and community outreach activities to increase brand awareness and drive customer engagement.

Requirements:
  • Since the candidate will be working closely with children, they must pass a background check and drug test. Please don't apply if you can't pass both.
  • Candidate must also have a reliable form of transportation as travel is required.

How to Apply:
Interested candidates can submit a resume and cover letter to Sarah Miller at sarah@sixpixelsfilmacademy.com
