Are you the one we're looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Registered Early Childhood Educator who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.

As a Before and After School Program Staff you will be working as part of a team providing a positive learning environment that supports children's emotional, social, cognitive and physical growth and development. Wesley's Before and After School Program Staff, care for and observe children each day to understand and foster their interests and provide an engaging and stimulating environment and program.

Place of work: Rockton Elementary school (670 Highway 8 Rockton) Location and/or program can be changed based on enrollment and/or operational need.

Hours of work: Shift work, 20-30 hours per week.

Status: Unionized,Part-time Contract - September 8, 2026- October 23, 2026.

Rate of Pay: The rate of pay is$19.79per hour; the rate of pay varies from $25.21 - $28.21 based on eligible wage top-ups available.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate day to day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor Early Years and other staff.
  2. Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education's pedagogy "How Does Learning Happen?" as well as the "Tools for Life" Program.
  3. Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
  4. Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley Urban Ministries at all times.
  5. Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
  6. Welcome, support and interact with all clients, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds, newcomers to Canada, LGBTQ2S+, young parents, etc.

What you will bring:

  1. Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators or Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Worker
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience working with school age children, and their families.
  3. Experience working in a Before and After School program, with parents and with community partners.
  4. Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation i.e. Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  5. Current First aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training.
