University - Summer 27, Enterprise Cybersecurity Data Loss Prevention Intern
The Opportunity:
As an Enterprise Cybersecurity Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting Booz Allen's internal data protection operations in a Cyber Fusion Center (CFC) environment. You will assist with DLP policy management, incident analysis, data classification initiatives, and reporting activities to help safeguard sensitive information across the enterprise. This internship offers real-world exposure to enterprise data protection tools and processes, mentorship from experienced DLP analysts, and opportunities to put academic learning into practice.
How You'll Contribute:
  • Assist in compiling monthly and quarterly DLP metrics, including blocks, alerts, and incidents into executive-ready summaries
  • Assist in testing detection rules in a sandbox or non-prod environment before production rollout
  • Assist in triaging low-severity DLP alerts following documented escalation criteria
  • Assist in researching false-positive vs true-positive determination logic and review DLP policies to identify outdated or redundant rules
  • Document lessons learned from tuning exercises or migration evaluations
  • Assist with data classification initiatives and user awareness activities
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on emerging data protection threats and best practices
  • Grow communication and technical skills by partnering with senior analysts and presenting findings in team reviews

You Have:
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, solutions, or technologies
  • Knowledge of data protection concepts, including data classification and information security
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, Analytics, or Data Science by December 2028

Nice If You Have:
  • Knowledge of DLP tools such as Microsoft Purview, Trellix, or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of cloud security and data protection in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA
  • Knowledge of insider threat detection and user behavior analytics
  • Ability to display interest in data protection, security operations, or compliance
  • Possession of excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $53,000.00 to $108,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
