Req ID:

Job Description:

About the Role:

The Standards and Practices Operator (RP) is an early career role within Disney's Corporate Standards & Practices team, supporting the delivery of high-quality live television content that reflects our world-class entertainment brands. Operating as part of the Legal and Business Affairs Group, you will apply formal training and developing expertise to help protect Disney's reputation while enabling innovative storytellers to reach global audiences.

Responsibilities:

In this business support position, you will monitor live broadcasts and execute real-time edits that align with regulatory, legal, and brand standards, working within established procedures and under moderate supervision. You will manage your own workload, act as an independent problem-solver, and contribute to Disney Corporate's mission of delivering innovative, leading-edge entertainment that meets audience expectations and safeguards our brands. This role matters because it ensures live content remains compliant, brand-appropriate, and seamless on-air, requiring strong focus, adaptability, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production teams.

  • Monitor live television feeds from our facility and execute edits in real time to manage audio and video content during broadcasts.
  • Operate delay systems, including engaging the "delay button" and inserting mutes, bleeps, and cutaways to mitigate risk and uphold content standards.
  • Apply established rules and guidelines to live content, using sound judgment to make immediate decisions under pressure.
  • Maintain active visual and audio monitoring for extended periods, ensuring continuous focus and rapid response to emerging issues.
  • Collaborate with Standards & Practices and production partners to align on expectations for live events and escalate issues when needed.
  • Manage assigned schedules for select live broadcasts, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, demonstrating punctuality and ownership of shifts.
  • Stay current on contemporary speech and trends in television and other media to inform contextual decision-making during live content review.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to concentrate and stay focused for several hours (e.g., 1-6 hours) with strong visual and listening skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with quick, instinctive reflexes for real-time decision-making during live broadcasts.
  • Strong problem-solver with the ability to think clearly and act confidently under pressure as an independent worker.
  • Ability to learn and apply rules contextually as an independent thinker, using sound judgment to balance risk and viewer experience.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of ownership over scheduled assignments, including flexibility to work weekends and some holidays.
  • Awareness of contemporary speech and cultural trends in TV and other media to support appropriate content decisions.
  • Professional demeanor and clear, accurate communication skills when interacting with colleagues and partners.
  • Interest in sports, music, entertainment, or the broadcasting process, and appreciation for Disney brands and teamwork.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in live broadcast, production control rooms, or similar real-time media environments.
  • Familiarity with content standards, regulatory considerations, or brand protection practices in entertainment.
  • Background or coursework in media studies, communications, or a related field.
